ABOUT ME · BEHIND THE RELEASE NOTES

Hi, I’m Davide.

Most of my favourite plans involve friends, good food and wine. Sometimes a bit of sport, to give the food a backstory.

I like bringing people together. A few months ago, I started organising a weekly football game with friends. At first, it took a few calls and some convincing just to get the ten players we needed. Somewhere along the way, it grew into a little community of over thirty people, with a game every week. I’d only meant to get a kickabout going. Now we have a budget, I have the admin, and everyone has memes to contribute. Apparently, that’s how these things happen.

I’ll watch pretty much any sport. Few things beat waking up on a Monday in August and discovering I’m deeply invested in a sport I didn’t know existed on Sunday. Unfortunately, that only happens every four years. Two, if you count the Winter Olympics.

Tennis, though, is a year-round thing. I’ve spent plenty of time watching Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. Yes, I had a favourite. We can discuss that once we know each other a little better. These days, Carlos Alcaraz is giving me plenty of reasons to keep watching. I also play pool, which my dad taught me when I was young and I’ve recently picked up again. Some things are worth coming back to.

I live near Retiro Park in Madrid. It’s a good place to take a thought for a walk and come back with either a solution or an appetite. Both have their uses. I’m into photography, music and finding places to eat that I’ll immediately insist my friends need to try. Not the most unusual list of interests, but I’m happy with it. Food takes up a questionable share of my budget. I’ve questioned it. It’s staying.

I like good company, a laugh, and getting a plan out of the group chat and into the calendar. I try to be someone people can count on. I don’t get everything right, but I do care about showing up.

And if you’re short a player on Sunday, I probably know someone.
